Best months
Constance Belle Mare Plage runs along two kilometres of beach on the east coast of Mauritius, with a coral reef offshore that keeps the lagoon calm for swimming and snorkelling. Its 278 rooms, suites and villas sit in thatched buildings of no more than three floors, spread through almost 15 hectares of gardens, and every room and suite faces the Indian Ocean. There are no lifts, which says something about the scale.
Golf is the particular strength. The resort has two 18 hole courses across 140 hectares, and hotel guests pay no green fee, only for the buggy. The Legend, designed by Hugh Baiocchi in 1994 and reworked by Rodney Wright in 2016, runs through woodland that was once a hunting reserve, and its par three 17th plays across an inlet of the sea. In May 2026 it staged the first MCB Ladies Classic on the Ladies European Tour. The Links, by Wright and Peter Alliss, opened in 2002 and is the gentler of the two. A free shuttle connects hotel and clubhouses, and bags can be stored on site.
Families come for the Coconut Tribe club and the water sports included in the rate, from water skiing to glass bottom boat trips. Couples may prefer one of the 18 villas with a private heated pool, and the Blue Penny Cellar, a restaurant set among around 35,000 bottles of wine, is worth one evening.

Constance Spa has ten treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, a vitality pool and a cold plunge, set apart in its own garden.
Own transfer
The hotel books private cars from the airport, about an hour, or helicopter transfers of 15 minutes to its own helipad.

Ask for one of the 53 beachfront Junior Suites: 68 square metres, a large terrace or balcony and a sofa bed for a child. Larger families fit a two bedroom garden pool villa.

October to December is warm and mostly dry, before the cyclone months. From 26 April to 3 May 2027 the Legend hosts the MCB Ladies Classic, so plan your own rounds around it.
Breakfast at the 18th green
Early golfers take a continental breakfast with a Mauritian touch at the Deer Hunter, the Legend clubhouse restaurant, which opens at seven and looks onto the 18th green.
Getting there
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is about 60 km away, an hour by car. The hotel books private transfers and, for a charge, helicopter flights of around 15 minutes to the resort's helipad.
