COMO Parrot Cay

Parrot Cay is a thousand acre island a short boat ride from Providenciales with a single resort on it, and the journey sets the tone: a 15 minute drive to Leeward Marina, then 35 minutes across pale water by private boat. The resort opened in 1998 and COMO has run it in its quiet, unhurried style ever since, with around sixty rooms, suites, beach houses and villas along four miles of white sand. Interiors are whitewashed and teak, with four poster beds and deep verandas; every beach house, villa and residence has its own pool, and the beach houses and villas step straight onto the sand.

Many guests plan their stay around the COMO Shambhala Retreat. Nine treatment rooms, a yoga pavilion and Pilates studio, Japanese baths, an infinity pool and outdoor jacuzzis sit among the trees, and visiting practitioners in Ayurveda, Pilates and posture take up residence from November to March. Daily yoga and meditation are included, and the kitchens serve COMO Shambhala cuisine alongside Caribbean and Italian menus at Lotus and Terrace.

Families are looked after without noise. Play by COMO takes children from four to twelve every day for crafts, beach games and nature walks. The island holds EarthCheck Silver certification, composts its food waste, crushes glass for reuse in concrete and keeps mangrove trails and kayak routes for anyone who wants more than the beach.
