Some guests stay for a night, others for a season. With the second group in mind, Mandarin Oriental has renovated and reimagined the serviced apartments of its Kuala Lumpur hotel. The collection at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur now counts 51 apartments across the fourth to eighth floors, in the KLCC precinct and right beside the Petronas Twin Towers.

The hotel is clear about who it has in mind: business professionals from Malaysia and abroad, embassy guests and families travelling for leisure. The occasions range from corporate relocations to project assignments, and the apartments take both short and extended stays. In other words, this is a hotel address for people who need a kitchen, a washing machine and a second bedroom more than a minibar.

From 75 to 190 square metres

There are three layouts. One-bedroom apartments start at 75 square metres, two-bedroom apartments at 123 and three-bedroom apartments at 152, with the largest reaching 190 square metres. Each one opens with an entry foyer and continues into a bright interior with separate sitting and dining areas, planned around space, flow and privacy.

The kitchen sits at the heart of the plan: open, with a bar counter and premium Bosch appliances, including a combined washer and dryer. That detail matters little on day two and a great deal on day twenty. In the sitting area there is an LG 55-inch IPTV with a Bose smart soundbar.

Walk-in wardrobes and a Kaldewei tub

Every bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. For the bathrooms, the hotel chose Grohe and American Standard fittings, Kaldewei bathtubs and Feruni Traventino stoneware. Smaller things have been considered too: PowerMat wireless charging at the bedside, and Somfy Glydea Ultra motorised curtains that adjust light and privacy at the touch of a button. Depending on the apartment, the windows face the city skyline, the green of KLCC Park or the Twin Towers themselves.

“Every element of the Serviced Apartments has been carefully considered to create a space that feels both elevated and intuitive,” says Anthony Tyler, General Manager and Area Vice President, Operations.

An address that does half the work

The location is the strongest argument. The Suria KLCC Mall is directly connected to the hotel, the Bukit Bintang district is within walking distance and KLCC Park starts at the door: a rare stretch of green in the middle of the city, good for an early run or an afternoon with children. Residents also receive a selection of KLCC privileges, including selected events at Suria KLCC and offers at Petrosains, The Discovery Centre, and at the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra Hall. KLCC Pulse adds wellness, community and seasonal activities.

Pool, courts and the hotel kitchens

Apartment guests use the hotel’s facilities. An entire level is given over to fitness and recreation, with a garden terrace, an outdoor 27-metre infinity pool, tennis and pickleball courts and a fitness centre open 24 hours. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur pairs Eastern healing traditions with contemporary treatments, from signature massages to facials and tailored wellness journeys.

For meals there is Cantonese cooking at Lai Po Heen, premium cuts and grill dishes at Mandarin Grill, afternoon tea at Lounge On The Park, a buffet of local and international dishes at Mosaic, Mediterranean-inspired food outdoors at AQUA Restaurant & Bar and cocktails with a view over the city at MO Bar. In-room dining runs around the clock, straight to the apartment. For business guests, the column-free Grand Ballroom and its foyer are available for larger events.

Before you book

Rates are not published. The hotel quotes on request, depending on the length of stay and the type of apartment, and private viewings can be arranged. If you are weighing an apartment against a suite for a stay of several weeks, ask which view the unit has and which KLCC privileges apply: skyline, park and towers are three quite different outlooks for a month in the city.
