lyf Funan Singapore opened in 2019 above the rebuilt Funan mall in the Civic District, the first Singapore address of lyf, the coliving brand of the serviced apartment group Ascott. It was billed as the largest coliving property in Asia: 279 units over nine storeys that can be let as up to 412 rooms, from studios of 18 square metres to a six bedroom duplex for nine. Woods Bagot designed the Funan complex, and the interiors, bright, colourful and a little playful, are by the studio FARM; they won the co-living category of the LIV Hospitality Design Awards in 2025.

For a working month the plan makes sense. Every studio has a writing desk, and the 27 square metre One of a Kind Plus adds a fully equipped kitchen of its own. Connect is the coworking space, Bond the shared kitchen, Burn the gym and Wash & Hang the laundrette, and high speed Wi-Fi covers the building. The lyf team runs weekly events, housekeeping comes once a week with more on request, rooms open with a mobile key and the house is cashless.

City Hall MRT, where the East West and North South lines meet, is six minutes on foot through a sheltered link, Clarke Quay five, and St Andrew's Cathedral and Raffles City are close by. The rooms are compact and the mood is sociable rather than hushed, which suits people who like to work among others and retreat to a small private room. Anyone with long calls to make should book the larger studio.
